About

Richard D. Schoenberg has been a photographer for 30years. Originally from the New York City area, he worked for several entertainment newspapers. During that period he compiled a portfolio of rock photos that were published in 2002. The book titled, "Seventy Nine - Eighty" documents some of the early performances of the B-52's, John Mellencamp and The Pretenders.

Having relocated to Los Angeles, he attended the American Film Institute as a cinematography fellow. For six years he pursued a career as a Director of Photography, working on television commercials, music vi deos and several feature-length films.

In 1985, he started a business that serviced the film and television industry. As the company grew to nine locations around the world Richards ability to concentrate on his photography diminished. In 1998, the company was successfully sold.

After the hiatus from photography he returned to shooting. After the publication of "79/80" , he had a successful show in Santa Monica, California in January 2003.

In addition to his own work, he is a founding member of the Los Angeles League of Photographers (www.lalop.org) and was a exhibitor in the first show by the organization in June 2004.

Having spent two and half years working on, "The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday", a 288 page book about the training of the US Navy SEALs, it was published in December, 2004.

Two new books, "Boot Camp" & "The Warrior Class" , which both deal with the trials of Marine training were released in 2007 & 2008.
